"The Blessing of His Presence"
"La Bendición de Su Presencia"
I Chronicles 13:13-14 / I Crónicas 13:13-14
The truth is that where the presence of God is there is blessing. Every home, that allows the presence of God, will benefit from the abundance of His blessings. From the spiritual leader of the home to the generations to come, God’s presence is there to bless. In all that we entrust Him with, God’s presence is there to bless. Everything will change for the better when the Blessing of His Presence is there.
1) “Blessed” – Heb. “barak” – to adore God; to benefit man /
“Bendijo” – Hb. “barac” – adorar a Dios; beneficiar al hombre
The word “blessed” is dual directional in its application. It means to adore God. The context here, though, is on God benefiting man. In its full application it is revealing God’s goodness towards man by bringing him profit, help, assistance, promotion, and gain.
2) God Exists There / Dios Existe Allí
The “ark of God” is the Ark of the Covenant that had been built by Moses, for the Tabernacle, 500 years before. The “ark of God” not only represented national pride but it actually contained the presence of God. God Himself was in Obed-edom’s house. God Himself – His presence - is in us for we are temples of the Holy Spirit.
3) The Spiritual Authority is Blessed / La Autoridad Espiritual es Bendecida
“Obed-edom” represents the spiritual authority. The blessing of His presence always begins with the spiritual leader of the home allowing it to remain in the house. The spiritual leader, ideally, should be the man of the house. But if not, it is that woman, wife, mother who is willing to take on the responsibility of her house being blessed by God’s presence.
4) The Fullness of God’s Deity Brings the Blessing / La Plenitud de la Deidad de Dios Trae Bendición
“Three months” represents the fullness of the Godhead. In prophetic and doctrinal terms, the number 3 represents the tri-unity which is the fullness of God. Colossians 2:9 says that in Christ “dwells all the fullness of the Godhead.” “…and the Lord” (“…y Jehová”) is the name of God. This means that all of who God is was involved in bringing blessing into a house that was full of His presence. 5) God Provision for the Home is a Blessing / La Provisión de Dios para el Hogar es una Bendición
“…blessed the house…” means that all who lived in that house benefited from the blessing of God’s presence. We have other examples of this principle: Noah and his family were saved from eternal destruction; Joshua and his house served the Lord; Cornelius, his relatives, and close friends, were saved because “…the Holy Spirit -God’s presence - fell upon all those who heard the word.”
6) All Things are Blessed / Todas las Cosas son Bendecidas
“…all that he had” is in direct reference to the blessings of God in all non-spiritual things. Remember, that by definition, to be “blessed” means that God, through His powerful presence, will bring us benefit. Where there is lack God’s presence will provide for all need. Where there is a difficult situation, God’s presence will transform what is impossible to us. But even more, the Psalmist David, the king of Israel who brought the ark of God into Obed-edoms house in the first place, said – Psalms 103:2-5
7) God Brings Increase in Areas We Don’t Often Expect /
Dios Trae Aumento en Áreas Que No Esperamos Frecuentemente
What’s one of the phrases we often use when our employment situation changes for the better? I can’t believe: I got a job, a better job, promotion, salary increase, etc. etc. Because of the blessing of God’s presence, Obed-edom got a career change with greater benefits. He went from gatekeeper to musician. I Chronicles 15:18-21. The first benefit was a second visitation from the king, this time though, it included some very prestigious company: the elders of Israel and the captains over thousands. I Chronicles 15:25. The second benefit was that now he did not have to stand, watch, and hear the sounds of celebration from the gate, but as an appointed musician, he had the right to draw nearer to God’s house and even better to the Blessing of God’s Presence.
8) A New Beginning of Generational Blessing / Un Principio Nuevo de Bendición Generacional
- I Chronicles 26:1a. Because of the Blessing of God’s Presence new gatekeepers needed to be appointed. Somebody needed to take the place of Obed-edom. So now who is going to receive that blessing of being a gatekeeper?
- I Chronicles 26:4-5. Obed-edom had 8 sons. In prophetic terms the number 8 represents “new beginning.” It is a new beginning not just for Obed-edom but for his next generation.
- I Chronicles 26:6-8. God’s blessing, not only His judgments, extend to the following generations. The grandchildren of Obed-edom also inherited from the Blessing of God’s Presence. Obed-edom, his children, his grandchildren had “great ability”, they were “able men”, and they had the “strength to work – 62 men.”
Where the Presence of the Lord is - their is Blessing. In this story of Obed-edom, and other scriptures, we see how the Blessing of God’s Presence can impact from the spiritual leader, to his marriage, his house, his things, his career, his children, and even his grandchildren. God, in the fullness of all that He is, wants to benefit us. He wants to bring us profit, help, promotion, and gain. God wants us to enjoy every day the blessing of every new thing that He has in store for us. God is here today. But he is also there where you need Him the most making a change for the better. Conclusion:
God’s Presence in Every Part of My Life Will Change Everything for the Better
La Presencia de Dios en Cada Parte de Mi Vida Cambiara Todo para Bien
The Blessing of His Presence
La Bendición de Su Presencia
I Chronicles 13:13-14 / I Crónicas 13:13-14
When one has forgiven another, there ought to be a complete change in the relationship that follows. That change, however, does not mean that everyone must immediately forget the past. There is no such commandment in the Scriptures.
1) There is no commandment telling us to forget. /
No hay mandamiento diciéndonos que olvidemos.
Forgiveness is not a shock treatment that instantly wipes out memory of the recent past. On occasions there may continue to be some fear that the same transgression may be committed again. But in time, forgetting must follow forgiving.
2) In time, forgetting must follow forgiving. /
But if not, then there has to be a reason. One of the most related reasons is brooding. (Darle vueltas a algo)--brooding over the offense in self-pity. (Autocompasión)
3) Self-pity does not help us to forget. /
La autocompasión no nos ayuda a olvidar.
Such brooding is decidedly unscriptural and does not fit into the biblical concept of forgiveness.
4) Forgiveness - no longer dwelling on the sin forgiven. /
When you have forgiven there is a complete change in the relationship with your ex-offender. Sometimes it’s not immediate, but you cannot use time as an excuse not to forget. There is no commandment telling you to forget, but there is Scripture telling you to forgive. Jesus said,
“Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns to you, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him.” (Luke 17:3, 4)
“Mirad por vosotros mismos. Si tu hermano pecare contra ti, reprendedle; y si se arrepintiere, perdónale. Y si siete veces al día pecare contra ti, y siete veces al día volviere a ti, diciendo: Me arrepiento; perdónale.” (Lucas 17:3, 4
Forgiveness is the promise not to raise the issue again to my offender, to others, or to myself, AND THEN WILL I BE ABLE TO FORGET
