- Jesus had given them the example.
- They united in prayer, in obedience to Christ.
- Ushered in Outpouring through 10-day prayer mtg.
- After Outpouring, they dedicated to prayer.
- The results we’ve talked about: Rise Up; Dedicated; Let It Shine.
- So, we have the example in Jesus and in the first Christian believers.
- We must be devoted to prayer.
- We must be that example.

- Apostle Paul is under house arrest (domiciliario) in Rome.
- From there he sends letters of reminder to the Believers.
Efesios 6:18
[INTRODUCTION]
- The action phrase here is “be persistent“.
- Bug God until His will is done.
- Be alert to what’s going on around us.
- Expect opposition to our prayers.
- We must be actively engaged in prayer.
- Prayer is about bugging God unto His will is done.
- In the Lord’s Prayer, the primary request is…
Mateo 6:10
- One day, Jesus shared a parable with his disciples.
- A parable is a short, simple story that teaches a moral, spiritual, truth.
- Jesus wanted to illustrate the importance of persistent prayer and faith.
- In Luke 18:1, a persistent widow came before a judge who did not fear God nor cared for people.
- The widow had gone through an injustice.
- She persisted - she wanted justice from her enemy.
Lucas 18:4-5
- Jesus used this true story of persistency to teach on our persistent prayers to God.
Lucas 18:7-8
- In the Old Testament, it talks about the rebellion of God‘s people – disobedience, idolatry, sin, etc.
- Because of their rebellion, God allows many of His people to be taken into Babylonian exile for 70 yrs.
- During the exile, back in Israel, Jerusalem had been attacked by her enemies.
- After the exile, the surviving Jews return to Jerusalem and enter into a deep discouragement:
- Family members: displaced (desplazadas), dying, & slaughtered (masacrados).
- Walls of protection are broken.
- Solomon’s Temple destroyed—in ruins.
- Family & Country Economy is suffering.
- God sends a reminder - word of encouragement…
“Give the Lord no rest until He completes His work, until He makes Jerusalem the pride of the earth.” Isaiah 62:7

“Bug” God Until His Will Is Done
“Mosquéale” A Dios Hasta Que Se Cumpla Su Voluntad
- God knows everything even before we ask.
- Praying is more for our peace of mind – released.
Estemos Atentos A Lo Que Sucede A Nuestro Alrededor
- There’s some real needs all around us.
- There’s real needs inside of you.
- Use our time wisely when we’re talking with God.
Esperemos Oposición A Nuestras Oraciones
- Not everything that happens in life is a result of us having faith in God — or us praying.
- It’s a good thing to bring to God, “is this opposition just life, or is it an attack of the enemy?
- In the case of the persistent widow, the judicial system was her opposition.
- In the case of the returning Jews, their own family was the opposition.
- Edgar & Irene - blessed their home - two accidents.
- A family getting closer to God and they experienced opposition.
- I asked if I could share this - Edgar said…”We are thankful for his blessings and it will be great for our brothers and sisters to know his love and how he protected us.
- Oppositions are real.
- Regardless (a pesar) of where it comes from, God is with us — He hears our prayers.
[APPLICATION]
- How are you doing with your prayer life?
- Are you being persistent?
- Wherever YOU are in faith, it is your faith — it is faith of a child of God.
- You have the right to go to God in prayer.
- And there is so much to go to God for: You, your family, and all around you.
- Pray. Keep praying. Be steadfast. Don’t give up.
- Today’s word reminds you, and I believe encourages you, to be persistent in your prayers.

WHY AREN’T MY PRAYERS ANSWERED?
¿POR QUÉ MIS ORACIONES NO SON CONTESTADAS?
When was the last time you had a medical checkup?
A physical checkup is essential for early detection of silent health conditions.
Today we will take a Prayer Life Checkup!
So, we can improve our prayer life and detect any conditions that might be affecting it.

PRAYER is not difficult or complicated, but it is composed or interconnected of different parts.
14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. 1 John 5:14-15
1 Juan 5:14-15
The Bible does not promise that God will grant every request exactly as we ask, but it does promise that He hears those who call to Him and acts wisely and lovingly.
And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong, you want only what will give you pleasure.
Because of unconfessed sin Psalm 66:17-19
17For I cried out to him for help, praising him as I spoke. 18If I had not confessed the sin in my heart,
the Lord would not have listened. 19But God did listen!
Because we aren’t Christians / Porque nosotros no somos cristianos
Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? Unless indeed you are disqualified. 2Corinthians 13:5
2Corintios 13:5
Jesus gives us the confidence to pray and makes God accessible to sinners. One of the scariest truths found in the Bible is that many people think they have saving faith in Jesus Christ but actually don’t.
Proverbs 28:9 We’ve Turned Our Back on God and His Word by Embracing Sin
God detests the prayers of a person who ignores the law.
To have no hunger for God’s word or to give it no attention is a sign of spiritual sickness in the child of God.
Because of doubt / A causa de la duda
6 But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. James 1:6-8
Santiago 1:6-8
Because of unresolved conflicts / A causa de conflictos no resueltos
But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too. Mark 11:25-26
Marcos 11:25-26
23 So if you are presenting a sacrifice at the altar in the Temple and you suddenly remember that someone has something against you, 24 leave your sacrifice there at the altar. Go and be reconciled to that person. Then come and offer your sacrifice to God. Matthew 5:23-24
Luego ven y presenta tu ofrenda a Dios. Mateo 5:23-24
Because you are insensitive to your wife / Porque eres insensible con tu esposa
“You husbands in the same way, live with your wives in an understanding way, as with someone weaker, since she is a woman; and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered.” 1 Peter 3:7
1 Thessalonians 5:17-18
17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Tesalonicenses 5:17-18

The Bible does not promise that God will grant every request exactly as we ask, but it does promise that He hears those who call to Him and acts wisely and lovingly.
- Often we are inclined to think that the only answer God can give our prayers is “yes.”
- We need to remember that “no” is an answer also. “No” is an answer of love from our Heavenly Father when we ask Him for things which are not really for our good or for His glory.
- God does not always give us what we want; He gives us what we need.
- When we think of “unanswered” prayer, it may be that we do not understand the way in which God responds to our requests.
And even when you ask, you don’t get it because your motives are all wrong, you want only what will give you pleasure.

- To live with her in an understanding way means that a wise husband controls his own needs and desires so that hers are met.
- He does not belittle her, minimize her contributions to the family, or expect her to do what God has given him to do.
- “weaker vessel” doesn’t mean inferiority. Woman is not to be treated as “one of the guys.”
- Obedience, respect and loyalty are essential elements of submission in a relationship.
- To be a godly husband or wife requires that we first surrender our lives to the lordship of J. Christ.
