O God, you have taught me from my earliest childhood, and I constantly tell others about the wonderful things you do. Now that I am old and gray, do not abandon me, O God. Let me proclaim your power to this new generation, your mighty miracles to all who come after me. - Psalms 71:17-18

- Salmos 71:17-18

[INTRODUCTION]
- This Scripture is about Identity - our Identity.
- Enosh, & NG, identified w/ who they worshipped.
- As such, they knew who they were.
- Do you know who you are?
- Do you know your true identity?
- There is no greater identity than Jesus our Lord.
MY IDENTITY
MI IDENTIDAD
- Careful read of vs. 26 we see it is about identity.
- Identity: The character as to who a person is; The qualities & beliefs that identify a person.
- How would people identify you?
- For some, Identity is about physical traits.
- Actually, it’s about who we are as persons.
- More than identifying marks, ID cards, or family name, my identity is about who I am.
- Ever wondered how people truly see you?
- More than likely what they see doesn’t come close to your true identity.
- That’s what identity is - who I am as a person.
¿QUIEN CREES QUE ERES?
- Each one attempts to self-identify - even Jesus.
- Marcos 8:27
- Some look into their family tree - like the show.
- Think about how you identify yourself.
- What attributes do you use to describe yourself?
¿COMO TE IDENTIFICAS?
- By Gender / Por Género
- By Ethnicity / Por Etnicidad
- By Name / Por Nombre
- Family Background / Trasfondo Familiar
- Career or Job Title / Carrera o Título de Trabajo
- Relationship to Others / Relación con Otros
- How You Think about Yourself / Cómo Piensas de Ti Mismo
“¿Quién eres? ¿Qué te define? ¿Cuál es tu identidad? La forma en que respondes a esas preguntas afecta todos los aspectos de tu vida” - Pastor Mark Driscoll
- Impulse of the book is true identity in Christ.
- We need to self-identify beyond what we think.
- Our true identity is great - it’s in Jesus Christ.
LA GENERACIÓN ENÓS SE IDENTIFICO CON DIOS
- Enosh is the 4th NG of humankind. (Humanía)
- Genesis 4; 5 ; 1 Chronicles 1; Luke / Lucas 3
- Etymology: Humanity; weak; incurable; or frail.
- Suggesting frail & mortal condition of humanity.
- 1st NG Adam introduced sin to humanity.
- 2nd NG Abel introduced worship to God.
- Though Enosh name & gen. is identified as frail & weak, they began to invoke YHWH by name.
- Enosh NG found identity in God’s proper name.
- Now, through Jesus Christ, our generation & NGs, have access to God - and the power to mention the name that is above all names – Jesus.
- We must proclaim to the NGs that their identity is powerful through the powerful name of Jesus.
- Today you’re reminded bout something powerful.
- Your identity is in God — through Jesus Christ.
- Who you believe yourself to be is much greater when you identify through Jesus.
- This is who YOU are - all other attributes change or cease to be.
- Your identity is who you are through Jesus Christ.
THERE IS NO GREATER IDENTITY FOR OUR GENERATIONS THAN JESUS CHRIST
NO HAY MAYOR IDENTIDAD PARA NUESTRAS GENERACIONES QUE JESUCRISTO
NEW GEN VALUES POSITION
LA NUEVA GENERACIÓN VALORA SU POSICIÓN
(POWER POINTS)
EVERY GEN HOLDS A POSITION OF INFLUENCE
In the next twenty years, Millennials will become the richest Gen in History, because they are poised to inherit some $90 trillion of assets from the Silent Gen & Baby Boom Gen.
EVERY GEN HOLDS A POSITION OF CHANGE
CADA GEN TIENE UNA POSICIÓN DE CAMBIO
So, while millennials may have less to give, more of them do it anyway.
They’re also changing how charitable donations are made.
EVERY GEN HOLDS A POSITION OF MORAL VALUES
CADA GEN TIENE UNA POSICIÓN DE VALORES MORALES
There is a wide generation gap between how those over 45 and those under 35 determine right & wrong.
In people over 45, more than 6 in 10 “say right and wrong do not change.”
In the younger population group, 24% strongly agree that what is, “morally right and wrong changes over time based on society.”
Example: Sex before marriage is morally wrong:
Gen Z 21% - Millennials 19% - Gen X 26% - Baby Boom 22%
JOSEPH VALUES HIS POSITION IN LIFE
JOSÉ VALORA SU POSICIÓN EN LA VIDA
Genesis 39:8 -He was 17 years old Gn. 15:2 probably around 20 when he was falsely accused and imprisoned.
8 But Joseph refused: “Look,” he told her, my master trusts me with everything in his entire household. 9 No one here has more authority than I do. He has held back nothing from me except you because you are his wife. How could I do such a wicked thing? It would be a great sin against God.”
JOSEPH’S POSITION OF AUTHORITY & POWER
LA POSICIÓN DE AUTORIDAD Y PODER DE JOSÉ
BEYOND BELIEF TO CONVICTIONS
MÁS ALLÁ DE LA CREENCIA HASTA LAS CONVICCIONES
Genesis 39:2 The Lord was with Joseph, so he succeeded in everything he did as he served in the home of his Egyptian master. 3 Potiphar noticed this and realized that the Lord was with Joseph, giving him success in everything he did.
Teachings from his father, Relationship with God, and Beliefs that had become CONVICTIONS in his life.
“En la base de la vida de una persona se encuentran sus creencias. Estas creencias dan forma a sus valores, y estos impulsan sus acciones”.
Our Kids Are Embracing Distorted Beliefs about Truth.
They are led to believe it is better to pick and choose from various ideas, concepts of God, and religion around them until they construct a tailor-made “faith,” one that’s just right for them.
Time Is Running Out, But There Is Still Hope.
Gen Z still seem to value their family’s authority or insight:
When asked who they most look up to as a role model, half say their parents (50%), and one in seven say another family member.
By leading our young people to truly know the one true God, we will help them find their true sense of identity, purpose, and destiny in life. Then they will be fortified spiritually, morally, and emotionally to stand strong in the face of today’s culture.
Ephesians 4:14
Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth.
(CONCLUSION)
Using my position as an engaged Christian, I will bless the young generations.

Teachings from his father, Relationship with God, and Beliefs that had become CONVICTIONS in his life.
- Our children today face unprecedented pressure. They are exposed to sexual temptation, school violence, alcohol, illegal drugs, and a variety of influences that threaten to undo all that we teach them.
- While we need to be concerned with what our kids could be tempted to do, we need to be more concerned with what our kids are led to believe.
- The behavior, attitudes, and actions of our kids spring from their value system, and their value system is based on what they believe.

LOYALTY
LA LEALTAD
[INTRODUCTION]
“La Lealtad implica una fidelidad que es firme frente a cualquier tentación de renunciar, abandonar, o traicionar.”
FAITH (Jesus teaches about The Vine and The Branches)
- 1 Timoteo 4:12
LA PACIENCIA
The Gospel can be taught in faith with love and patience.
[INTRODUCTION]
- We can promote the Kingdom of God together.
- Through Loyalty:
“La Lealtad implica una fidelidad que es firme frente a cualquier tentación de renunciar, abandonar, o traicionar.”
- With loyalty, how do we teach the Word of God to new generations so they can teach to future generations?
- In Faith, with Love and Patience.
FAITH (Jesus teaches about The Vine and The Branches)
LA FE (Jesus enseña acerca de La Vid y Las Ramas)
- To the older generation,
“Ustedes ya han sido podados y purificados por el mensaje que les di.” - Juan 15:3
- Fruitful branches are pruned to promote growth.
- God must sometimes discipline us to strengthen our character and faith.
- So that we can make way and show the new generation who God is and why Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.
- We teach the new generation:
- God - So loved the World that he gave his one and only son.
- Jesus - He is the way. No one can come to the Father except through him.
- Salvation - believing, with your whole heart, that Jesus saved you.
- One of the characteristics of the new generation today is that they will believe the gospel by seeing your faith in your day-to-day, better than just hearing you preach about it.
- It’s about living like a branch attached to its vine.
- Attached in faith and with wholeheartedness.
EL AMOR
- In a perfect world, older generations would have figured out how to raise a generation.
- But for older generations, it is easier to tell the younger generation, “Because the bible says so” or as I sometimes heard growing up, “Because I said so.”
- But the mistake that is often made is that the younger generation is seen as too young to understand.
- Like in Timothy’s case:
- Timothy had solid Jewish training in the Scriptures from his mother and grandmother.
- Because of his foundation, Paul instructed him to preserve the Christian faith by teaching sound doctrine and modeling a godly life.
“No permitas que nadie te subestime por ser joven. Sé un ejemplo para todos los creyentes en lo que dices, en la forma en que vives, en tu amor, tu fe y tu pureza.” - 1 Timoteo 4:12
- Live so others can see Christ in you.
LA PACIENCIA
- So we should not only share the gospel with love but also with patience.
- So let’s be like Jesus, quick to love and slow to get angry.
- We can see how Paul had to learn to be patient with the new generation.
- In Acts 13 we read that young John Mark couldn’t keep up with Paul and Barnabas, so he left them in the middle of the first missionary trip.
- Then in Acts 15, we see that Barnabas wants to bring John Mark back but Paul doesn’t have the patience for him, so Barnabas leaves Paul to work with John Mark.
- Then we see Paul putting his patience to the test when he meets Timothy in Acts 16 and asks him to join the team at the beginning of the second missionary trip.
- So older generation, do not let the age of the younger generation keep you from teaching them the gospel.
- Let us help the young generation understand and show them how to live a life where others can see Christ in us because of our loyalty to him.
- Because teaching the Gospel does not need to be serious.
The Gospel can be taught in faith with love and patience.

- Wow! 8 good looking sons - a beautiful family.
- David represented a beautiful new beginning.
- But we must answer these questions:
- What is beautiful to God?
- How does He respond to the beautiful?
- Are you beautiful?
- A Gen is beautiful because of its beautiful people.
DAVID’S BEAUTIFUL STORY
LA HERMOSA HISTORIA DE DAVID
- David was a good looking 15 year old boy.
- David feared no one — lion, bears, & giants.
- David had supernatural talent — anointed.
- David had flaws and made mistakes.
- David loved God with all his heart.
“Amo al Señor porque escucha mi voz y mi oración que pide misericordia.” - Salmos 116:1
“The Lord cares deeply when his loved ones die.” - Psalms 116:15
“Al Señor le conmueve profundamente la muerte de sus amados.” - Salmos 116:15
- David loved God with all his heart.
- That makes for a beautiful story.
UN CORAZÓN HERMOSO
- What makes a heart beautiful?
- Beauty is only skin-deep (belleza es superficial)
- Meaning that while someone may be beautiful on the outside, their character—what's inside & more meaningful— isn't necessarily attractive.
- Good looking doesn’t mean you’re beautiful.
- And David had major character flaws.
- But despite the character flaws, God chose David because he knew David would do His will.
“Pero ahora tu reino tiene que terminar, porque el Señor ha buscado a un hombre conforme a su propio corazón. El Señor ya lo ha nombrado para ser líder de su pueblo, porque tú no obedeciste el mandato del Señor.” - 1 Samuel 13:14
- Prophet Samuel said these words before the 15 year old David walked before him.
- Check out this Timeline
- God says he knows David already — 17 years fore.
- David wasn’t born yet — God already knew him.
“Te conocía aun antes de haberte formado en el vientre de tu madre; antes de que nacieras, te aparté y te nombré mi profeta a las naciones.” - Jeremías 1:5
- God had already chosen David even before he was born — way before he was anointed.
- Paul confirms story 1,000 years later - 40 gens.
“Pero Dios quitó a Saúl y lo reemplazó con David, un hombre de quien Dios dijo: “He encontrado en David, hijo de Isaí, a un hombre conforme a mi propio corazón; él hará todo lo que yo quiero que haga”.” - Hechos 13:22
- What makes a heart beautiful? A beautiful heart is an obedient heart — that’s what God sees.
MI GENERACIÓN NECESITA QUE YO SEA UNA PERSONA HERMOSA
- Beauty is not what society judges as beautiful.
“El encanto es engañoso, y la belleza no perdura, pero la mujer que teme al Señor será sumamente alabada.” - Proverbios 31:30
- God is not against beauty.
“Sin embargo, Dios lo hizo todo hermoso para el momento apropiado.” - Eclesiastés 3:11
- God values a person's inner beauty.
“No se interesen tanto por la belleza externa…En cambio, vístanse con la belleza interior...” - 1 Pedro 3:3-4
- When we value the outward more than the inner, that’s when God rejects.
“Cuando llegaron, Samuel se fijó en Eliab y pensó: «¡Seguramente este es el ungido del Señor!».” - 1 Samuel 16:6
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Don’t judge by his appearance or height, for I have rejected him.” - 1 Samuel 16:7a
“Pero el Señor le dijo a Samuel: —No juzgues por su apariencia o por su estatura, porque yo lo he rechazado.” - 1 Samuel 16:7a

“El Señor no ve las cosas de la manera en que tú las ves. La gente juzga por las apariencias, pero el Señor mira el corazón.” - 1 Samuel 16:7
[IMPULSE]
- It’s not about how good we look, but how excellent we reflect God’s love to our generations.
- It’s not about how good we serve, but the spirit and in truth heart we do it with.
- It’s not about gaining the whole world, but about our hearts not being rejected by God.
- Your generation needs for you to be beautiful.
- There’s nothing more beautiful than God’s love.
- This is YOUR story to your generation and on.
- What makes your generation beautiful is you.

LA NUEVA GENERACIÓN NECESITA UNA ADORACIÓN HERMOSA
[INTRODUCTION]
- This past Sunday we talked about the new generation being beautiful.
- We talked about what is beautiful to God - how He responds to the beautiful, and if we ourselves are beautiful.
- Not only having a heart of beauty but a heart of worship is crucial for our generations.
- This Generation needs beautiful worship
A BEAUTIFUL HEART
UN CORAZÓN HERMOSO
- What makes a heart beautiful?
- Just because you’re good looking doesn’t mean you’re beautiful.
- We looked at David and his whole hearted love.
- However, David had major flaws.
- God knew that, but God still used Him because He knew that David would still do His will.
- I’m positive we would never be as bad as David, so why couldn’t God use us?
- BIG QUESTION: But are you going to do His will?
- What makes a beautiful heart?
- A heart of obedience.
- The obedience to do whatever He wants us to do.
- Here is what I want us to dive into.
- It’s not only an obedient heart but a heart of worship that can make up a beautiful heart.
HEART OF WORSHIP
CORAZÓN DE ADORACIÓN
- What does it mean to have a heart of worship?
- Delighting in Jesus and expressing Praise to Him for who He is and what He has done for us.
- AND what he’s going to do in our life!
“Pero se acerca el tiempo —de hecho, ya ha llegado— cuando los verdaderos adoradores adorarán al Padre en espíritu y en verdad. El Padre busca personas que lo adoren de esa manera.” - Juan 4:23
- In Spirit - It must originate from within, from the heart, and it must be sincere! (Matthew 15:8-9)
- In truth, according to who He is in Scripture
- Powerful things happen when we worship (This is how I fight my battles)
“No tengas miedo, porque yo estoy contigo; no te desalientes, porque yo soy tu Dios. Te daré fuerzas y te ayudaré; te sostendré con mi mano derecha victoriosa.” - Isaías 41:10
- Worship is not only in the form of music, but by prayer and serving.
- We shouldn’t pray Lord take this battle away, we should pray give me strength to fight this battle.
- And worship Him through it, because you already know that he’ll make a way!
“Por lo tanto, amados hermanos, les ruego que entreguen su cuerpo a Dios por todo lo que él ha hecho a favor de ustedes. Que sea un sacrificio vivo y santo, la clase de sacrificio que a él le agrada. Esa es la verdadera forma de adorarlo.” - Romanos 12:1
- - -
”Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” - Romans 12:2
“No imiten las conductas ni las costumbres de este mundo, más bien dejen que Dios los transforme en personas nuevas al cambiarles la manera de pensar. Entonces aprenderán a conocer la voluntad de Dios para ustedes, la cual es buena, agradable y perfecta.” - Romanos 12:2
- Young people, check out second verse.
- We need to refocus, recenter, and remind ourselves of why we worship and who we worship.
- We were made to worship Him, so why should we allow ourselves to do it so poorly.
MY GENERATION NEEDS FOR ME TO HAVE A BEAUTIFUL HEART FILLED WITH WORSHIP
MI GENERACION NECESITA QUE YO TENGA UN CORAZÓN HERMOSO LLENO DE ADORACIÓN
- Let’s talk Gen Z. We’ve already learned a little about them. But let’s shed some light to this.
- If you want these seats to be filled or the classrooms filled. We need to understand this.
- Gen Z wants the truth (some aren’t good at finding it), but they want the real.
- They do not like fake (Gen Z).
- And they can smell it from a mile away.
- They can sense fake worship (it shows when it’s about me, me, me) (When they don’t see true worship or serving).
- They see the lack of real believers in the church.
- That’s one reason why they avoid the church, there are many other reasons.
- Not just the young generation, but all generations have so many broken hearted people. (Millennials main thing is church hurt from attending) (That’s why Gen Z is hesitant).
- The last thing they need is for us (the people of the church) to just add into that brokenness.
- Let’s be the change in the church and show what true worship looks like.
- And how this true worship can radically shake them up! (VIDEO I SAW OF DANCING).
“Este pueblo me honra con sus labios, pero su corazón está lejos de mí.” - Mateo 15:8
“Their worship is a farce, for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God.” - Matthew 15:9
“Su adoración es una farsa porque enseñan ideas humanas como si fueran mandatos de Dios.” - Mateo 15:9
[APPLICATION]
- This isn’t a complex message.
- It’s a simple call to change our hearts and the way we worship.
- Our generations need us to be worshiping in Spirit and in Truth.
- Open your heart to let the Holy Spirit change you.
- Our worship is more than a song, it’s how we act, pray, speak, love, and give.
- Story of song
- In the late 90s, Pastor in church in England sensed that their worship gatherings were going flat spiritually, that the congregation was going through the motions, and worship wasn’t flowing from the heart like true Christian worship must. He decided to get rid of the sound system and band for a season, and they gathered together with just their voices. His point was that they’d lost our way in worship, and the way to get back to the heart would be to strip everything away. Challenge was to be participants in worship not CONSUMERS. Come as worshipers not concert goers. After, they gained a new perspective; that it was about Jesus.
- Worship can evoke certain emotions. So we can get lost in them and cry & cry & cry out about our problems & forget to worship our problem solver.
- This is not only a song about our worship, but of repentance and re-consecration not just in worship but in life.
- Challenge: Take a look at your forms of worship.
- What needs to be stripped away for your worship to change.
