[INTRODUCTION]
  • We go through things in life that are incomparable. 
  • Bad things happen to everybody, right?
  • Sometimes we are the cause of our problems. 
  • Other times, problems just come our way. 
  • Life feels overwhelming. (abrumadora)
  • But we have hope in the midst of despair.

  • Judah is in a terrible moral state. 
  • God raises prophets to warn pending judgment. 
  • In defining Judah’s condition Joel uses metaphors: locust (langostas) with teeth of a lion; end time war horses, sun turn to darkness, moon to blood; blessings that drip (gotean) like new wine. 
  • In defining the terrible state of Judah he also offers a glimmer of hope.

[Introducción]
  • Joel fue un profeta al que Dios le habló durante un mal tiempo de plaga, sequía y crisis espiritual. 
  • Dios a través de Joel no sólo nos habla de lo que destruyó la langosta, pero nos alerta de un día aún más destructivo, conocido como “el día del señor”.
  • No hay día como el día del Señor, un día de juicio y gran tribulación.
  • En el tiempo de Joel, ya conocí a Jehová el cual lo había sacado de la esclavitud. 
  • Igual se hace referencia del Señor y de su Espíritu Santo.
  • Isaías 9:6 anuncia que nacería Jesus, también llamado Dios fuerte.

  • La última plaga de la langosta ocurrió hace poco en el año 2019, afectando la populación de África, Arabia y la India.
  • Suceso como nunca antes. 
  • La langosta (locust), oruga (cutting locust), saltón (hopping locust), reportó son las diferentes fases de la langosta, pero todas destructivas. 
  • La langosta es una comparación al día del señor, imparable, inminente, pronto para suceder.
  • Sin embargo, el señor a través de Joel nos alerta, llama a que busquemos de Dios mientras podamos.

  • They took oil in their vessels - this symbolizes being filled with the Holy Spirit. 
  • It is maintaining a consecrated life and having a genuine personal relationship with God.

  • They had lamps (outward profession of faith) - but no extra oil. 
  • They represent believers who are complacent, lacking spiritual depth, and relying on the faith of others — playing the Christian roll. 
The Delay and Shout / La Demora y el Grito
  • When the cry rings out that the bridegroom is coming, all 10 rise to meet Him. 
  • The foolish realize their lamps are going out and cannot borrow oil.
