LEVÁNTATE
[SERIES SCRIPTURE]
- Acts 2, God pours out His Spirit upon the disciples, who were praying.
- They begin to speak in different languages—unknown to them.
- People were amazed that a group of Galileans could speak in 14 different languages.
- To most, at that time, Galileans were considered humble, uneducated people.
- Some said they were drunk—it was too early for happy hour (La hora feliz—del vermut)
Hechos 2:14a
[INTRODUCTION]
- Acts chapter 2 is an important time for the believers in Jesus Christ.
- It’s a time for them to rise up and continue the movement initiated by Jesus.
- They’re now about to give birth to the Christian Church.
- And for this to happen, God sends an outpouring of His Spirit to empower them.
- It is then that the 12 disciples, now apostles, rise up and respond.
[POWERPOINTS]
RISE UP
LEVÁNTATE
- Get up with purpose, to do something significant, to overcome a difficult situation.
- Almost 30 years ago, I faced a very personal difficulty, after taking the lead pastorship.
- One of our ministers felt he should’ve been made pastor—he left, and some with him.
- An elder told me, after Dr. Steven left, “there’s gods our perfect church”—she left, and some with her.
- Aside from them, almost 15 families left as well.
- It was a difficult season — but I had been anointed (empowered) to lead — I was able to rise up and do the work.
- Peter had to overcame the crowd - many of whom he had run into before — 3rd denial.
- Passover crowd is the Day of Pentecost crowd.
- Acts 2, Peter rose up to what he was not able to face before.
- An Outpouring from God empowers us to Rise Up.
APOYA
- Have you ever gone to a restaurant by yourself – compared to when you go with group of people?
- IHOP - Dr. Steven & I - from business to party - the atmosphere changed.
- To rise up there we must have others to back us up - a support group.
- Marriage, Raising Kids, Running a Business, Job Projects, Church Ministry — it takes a village — team effort.
- Peter was encouraged by presence of the eleven — who had also experienced the outpouring — they were apt to support, not bring down.
- An Outpouring, plus support group, and we’ll be able to face anything.
- Peter had spent over 3 years with Jesus.
- Jesus had been working on him.
- He had truth, seen miracles, seen resurrected Jesus.
- And now, Peter just experienced an outpouring of God’s Spirit, and he has a support group.
HABLA
- To proclaim / speak with authority.
- OT Prophets spoke w/ authority.
- Jesus had demonstrated His authority in front of Peter and the apostles.
- Matthew 7, Jesus had just spoken what we call the “Sermon on the Mount“– the Beatitudes (Bienaventuranzas)
San Mateo 7:28-29
When Jesus concluded his address, the crowd burst into applause. They had never heard teaching like this. It was apparent he was living everything he was saying…” Matthew 7:28-29 (AMP)
Mateo 7:28-29 (AMP)
- Peter knew what he had lived and experienced.
- According to the original Gr text, Peter spoke in an oratorical (oratoria) manner; formal speech (discurso); a prepared homiletical sermon:
- A “humble, uneducated fisherman” spoke with authority / bold urgency.
- Introduction: explains phenomenon
- Points: Fulfillment of prophecy; Promise of Salvation; Jesus’ Ministry & Death, and Exaltation.
- Application: Repent, Be Baptized, Promise of salvation for entire home.
- Conclusion: Jesus is both Lord and Messiah.
- Altar Call: about 3,000 saved and baptized.
- Peter spoke with authority / boldness - he knew what he was talking about.
- When an Outpouring and personal experience join, we are able to speak beyond our humble capacities.
- It’s important for you to rise up.
- Help me apply some salsa and tell the taco next to you - you can rise up.
- And always remember that you are never alone.
- Your Church is with you to back you up.
- God is always with you—on your side.
Romanos 8:31
- God always has more to pour out over you.
- You can do this.
- This is your time to rise up.

Rising up is an action
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”” Acts 1:8
“When they deliver you over, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say, for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour. For it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.” Matthew 10:19-20
Faith accompanied by works
Today I rise up to serve Christ

“And all the people saw him walking and praising God, and recognized him as the one who sat at the Beautiful Gate of the temple, asking for alms. And they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.” Acts 3:9-10
Hechos 3:9-10

TRUE WORTH IS MEASURED BY INTEGRITY
EL VERDADERO VALOR SE MIDE POR LA INTEGRIDAD
- Peter and John said “look at us”.
- What: “Gravitas” (gravedad); Command of respect; Competence.
- Who we were or have done in the past had its moment and value.
- Now it’s about who we are today.
- Especially in the eyes of those around us — the fallen, needy, discouraged, lame.
- Peter & John now have a worthy walk — they had just experienced an outpouring of Holy Spirit.
- They’re deemed worthy by God to minister to the need of this man.
- Their true worth was activated because of their Integrity.
INTEGRITY IS CRUCIAL IN WHO WE ARE TODAY
LA INTEGRIDAD ES CRUCIAL EN QUIÉNES SOMOS HOY
- The initiative of Peter and John to say “look at us when we’re talking to you”.
- In other words, Peter and John were saying, “look at who we are now.“
- I’m not Peter the impetuous & slicer of ears.
- I’m not John the hothead & burner of villages.
- I’m not Efren the reluctant(reacio) & fearful to Dream.
- We’re not the same as we were before, right?
- Now, we have the guts (las agallas) to look at our kids in the eyes and correct them with the moral character to back it up.
- In greater part because of God in us.
- Outpouring empowers us to Rise Up with Rectitud.
- Integrity to look into the eyes of the fallen and tell them, “get up and walk”.
- The integrity of these men of God encouraged the lame man to believe.
- He rose up and walked beyond the temple door entering into beyond a physical healing.
- He entered walking, and leaping, and praising God.
- He wasn’t asking for alms anymore-that was his past.
- Now, his present, was “dance testifying” of his breakthrough in presence of God / house of God.
- His integrity was now becoming visible to all who had overlooked (pasado por alto) him before.
- Now, here, is a new man who has risen up and walked into what God had for him.
- All because of the integrity of two who said, “rise up and walk”
- Can you be one of those two? Of course you can!
- The same Outpouring of Luke 2 is for you today.
- Presence of God is here to empower you.
- It’s here to give you a breakthrough.
- To minister to your integrity.
- Of course you will tell the lame to get up and walk.

RISE UP FROM SPIRITUAL NEGLECT
Romanos 13:11
“Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed.” Romans 13:11
- Estaba coja y viendo no veía, y me congregaba.
TO RAISE US UP AND SHOW US THAT HIS POWER HAS NO LIMITS
Genesis 2:21
“So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh.” Genesis 2:21
TO RAISE US UP AND GIVE US UNDERSTANDING TO FULFILL OUR MISSION
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9
1 - Ora / Pray
- Acerquémonos a Dios para hablar con EL.
- Platiquémosle todo nuestro diario vivir.
- Confesemos nuestros errores.
- Pidamos perdón, pidamos ayuda para cualquier situación.
- Busquemos dirección, y agradezcámosle para tener paz.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6
2 - Adora / Worship
“But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.” John 4:23
3 - Sirve / Serve
“But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Joshua 24:15

[INTRODUCTION]
- After the Acts 2 “Outpouring”, we read that the followers continue to rise up.
- They rise up to: defend the gospel; do miracles; prayer; developing ministries & leadership.
- Philip was one of those who arose as an evangelist and deacon.
- In Acts 8:26 an angel of the Lord tells Philip to rise and go south.
- On that road, he encounters an Ethiopian eunuch.
- So let’s look at what happens when we are willing to rise up and go.
- Acts 8 - great persecution rose against church.
- ALL the believers scattered - Judea & Samaria.
- ALL the believers went about preaching the Word.
- Acts 8:5 - Philip went to the city of Samaria.
EL EFECTO CONTINUO DE UN DERRAMAMIENTO ES SOBRE TODOS LOS QUE CREEN
- From Acts 2 to 8 is a time span of about 2 to 5 yrs.
- I mentioned some of what followers rose up to do.
- How is it that believers can continue to rise up?
- Because of continuing effect of an “Outpouring”.
Efesios 3:20-21
- The glory belongs to God because the “Outpouring” power comes from God.
- And this is a continuing blessing is to all generations, forever and ever.
- So Philip rose up and went south.
- An Ethiopian eunuch (etíope) happened to be on that road.
- He was reading from Isaiah 53.
Hechos 8:32-33
- Eunuch asked, who’s he talking about Philip? Himself or someone else.
Hechos 8:35
PRIMARY RESPONSE TO AN OUTPOURING IS TO RISE UP AND SHARE JESUS
LA RESPUESTA PRINCIPAL A UN DERRAMAMIENTO ES LEVANTARSE Y COMPARTIR A JESÚS
- Of all that we are empowered to rise up and do, for the glory of God, our primary responsibility will always be to share the good news of Jesus Christ.
Hechos 1:8
- In the continuing effects of an “Outpouring”, our primary responsibility is to rise up and share Jesus.
[IMPETUS SCRIPTURE]
“Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?”” Acts 8:36
Hechos 8:36
“Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”” Acts 8:37

RISE UP AND GO, FOR THE POWER IN ONE
LEVANTATE Y VE, POR EL PODER EN UNO
- Phillip left a thriving ministry, preaching to the crowds in Samaria, to reach ONE PERSON, in the desert.
- There was a spiritual hunger in this man.
- His heart was prepared to receive the Holy Spirit.
- He had the scroll, the Word of God, and was reading it aloud.
- He had gone to Jerusalem to worship.
- He was at the right place, at the right time, ready to receive the Good News.
- God cares for INDIVIDUALS as much as crowds.
- A special mission assignment to reach JUST ONE important seeker of the truth.
- Acts 8:32-40 — the passage of scripture the eunuch had been reading was from Isaiah 53.
Hechos 8:32
- Philip uses the curiosity towards Isaiah and shares the Good News of Jesus.
- He led the Ethiopian Eunuch to believe and be baptized - filled with great joy.
INTERACCIÓN DIVINA—IMPULSO GUIADO POR EL ESPÍRITU
- Divine interaction:::spirit lead prompting.
- Sharing Jesus with ONE PERSON can change their eternity.
- And it can create a ripple effect of faith, hope, and love.
- A ripple effect that speaks far beyond that one encounter.
- According to biblical tradition, Philip the Evangelist is credited with first bringing the gospel to Ethiopia — after baptizing the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts 8.
- That same spirit is moving today.
- Jesus still calls us.
- Not because of our status, education, or perfection.
- Jesus delights in using ordinary people who are simply willing to say…
¡SÍ! ¡YO IRÉ!
- God works through simple obedience.
- One conversation, one prayer, one act of faith, can have an eternal impact.

EL VALOR DE OBEDECER: Aprendiendo de Ananías y Saulo
[INTRODUCTION]
- There are moments in our walk with God when obedience is easy when His instructions make sense, when the path is clear, when the cost is small.
- But there are also moments when obedience feels frightening, unreasonable, or beyond our abilities.
- In Acts 9, we meet a man named Ananias who found himself in exactly that place.
- God asked him to do something that defied logic, challenged his fears, and pushed him far outside his comfort zone.
- Yet his obedience opened the door for one of the greatest transformations in the Bible.
- Through Ananias and Saul, God teaches us what true obedience looks like.
1 - OBEDIENCE OFTEN REQUIRES COURAGE
LA OBEDIENCIA A MENUDO REQUIERE VALENTÍA
- When God told Ananias to go to Saul, it made no earthly sense.
- Saul was known for hunting Christians.
- Yet God said, “Go.”
- Ananias had a choice: obey in fear or stay in safety.
- He chose courage.
- Ex:
- Moses obeyed God by standing before Pharaoh even though he felt inadequate.
- Esther obeyed by approaching the king, saying, “If I perish, I perish.”
- Obedience is not the absence of fear; it is trusting God in the face of fear.
2 - OBEDIENCE IS BASED ON TRUST, NOT FULL UNDERSTANDING
LA OBEDIENCIA SE BASA EN LA CONFIANZA, NO EN LA PLENA COMPRENSION
- Ananias did not know why God chose Saul.
- He only knew his part.
- God rarely explains the whole plan.
- He gives us the next step.
- Abraham obeyed God by leaving his homeland not knowing where he was going.
- Obedience is walking with God even when we can’t see the whole road.
3 - OBEDIENCE CHALLENGES OUR ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT PEOPLE
LA OBEDIENCIA DESAFÍA NUESTRAS SUPOSICIONES SOBRE LAS PERSONAS
- Ananias saw Saul as an enemy.
- God saw Saul as a chosen instrument.
- Sometimes obedience means trusting that God can change people we never thought could change.
- Jonah resisted obedience because he didn’t want God to show mercy to Nineveh.
- When we obey God, we learn to see people through His eyes, not our fears.
4 - OBEDIENCE CONNECTS US TO GOD’S LARGER STORY
LA OBEDIENCIA NOS CONECTA CON LA HISTORIA MÁS AMPLIA DE DIOS
- Ananias probably had no idea that his simple act of obedience would help launch the ministry of the man we now call Paul apostle, missionary, writer of much of the New Testament.
- The boy with two fish and five loaves obeyed by offering what he had, and Jesus fed thousands.
- Small acts of obedience can change history.
5 - OBEDIENCE BRINGS GOD’D PRESENCE AND POWER
LA OBEDIENCIA TRAE LA PRESENCIA Y EL PODER DE DIOS
- When Ananias obeyed, Saul received healing, sight, and the Holy Spirit.
- God meets us in the place of obedience.
- Peter obeyed Jesus by casting the net again, and the miracle followed.
- Miracles often happen on the other side of obedience.
- The story of Ananias and Saul reminds us that God’s instructions may lead us into uncomfortable places,…
- Challenge our fears, and stretch our understanding.
- But obedience, courage, trusting, humble obedience always aligns us with God’s larger work.
- Like Ananias, we may never fully see the impact of our obedience.
- But God sees it.
- God uses it.
- And God blesses it.
- So when God calls you to forgive someone who hurt you…
- To take a step of faith that scares you…
- Or to serve in a place that stretches you…
- Remember Ananias.
- Obey with courage.
- Obey with trust.
- Your obedience may be the doorway to someone else’s transformation and perhaps even your own.
I WILL RISE UP AND OBEY WITH COURAGE AND TRUST GOD EVEN WHEN THE ASSIGNMENT MAKES NO SENSE; FOR HE SEES THE BIGGER PICTURE
ME LEVANTARÉ Y OBEDECERÉ CON VALENTÍA Y CONFIARÉ EN DIOS INCLUSO CUANDO LA ASIGNACION NO TENGA SENTIDO; PUES ÉL VE EL PANORAMA MÁS AMPLIO

LEVÁNTATE
RISE UP TO THE CHALLENGE “When My Authority is Challenged”
LEVÁNTATE AL DESAFÍO “Cuando Mi Autoridad es Desafiada”
[INTRODUCTION]
Certain Key Events of the life of Christ are found in all of the 4 Gospels:
His Baptism by John Baptist.
His Passion (Holy Week).
Last Supper with His disciples.
His Death & Resurrection
Of special focus are the events of Holy Week.
Jesus had to Rise Up to the Challenge of His authority, betrayal (traición), abandonment, suffering, & death.
Let’s focus on that key event when His authority was challenged.
Something I’m sure we can all relate to.
[FINAL WEEK STORY]
1st Day - PALM SUNDAY / TRIUMPHANT ENTRANCE
1er Día - DOMINGO DE PALMAS / ENTRADA TRIUNFAL
Fulfilling Zechariah 9:9
“Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their clothes on it, and He sat on it. And many spread their clothes on the road, and others cut down leafy branches from the trees and spread them on the road.” Mark 11:7-8
Marcos 11:7-8
Then those who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: “Hosanna! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Blessed is the kingdom of our father David that comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” And Jesus went into Jerusalem and into the temple...”. Mark 11:9-11
Marcos 11:9-11
2nd Day - MONDAY CLEANSING OF THE TEMPLE
2do Día - LUNES PURIFICACIÓN DEL TEMPLO
Morning was time to buy animals for sacrifice - many would need to exchange money - corrupt rates.
“So they came to Jerusalem. Then Jesus went into the temple and began to drive out those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves.” Mark 11:15
3rd Day - TUESDAY HIS AUTHORITY CHALLENGED
3er Día - MARTES SU AUTORIDAD ES DESAFIADA
Religious leaders are upset - wealthy tribal elders are upset - Jesus had affected their MO (method of operation) - strained (tenso) their financial gain.
“Then they came again to Jerusalem. And as He was walking in the temple, the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders came to Him. And they said to Him, “By what AUTHORITY are You doing these things? And who gave You this AUTHORITY to do these things?”” Mark 11:27-28
Marcos 11:27-28
Look, by the end of His ministry, Jesus’s authority had often been challenged.
He rubbed the corrupt religious system the wrong way. (Los sacó de quicio)
So after His triumphant entrance & cleansing the temple, Jesus had to Rise Up to those who challenged His authority.
He asked them only ONE poignant (conmovedora) question.
“Did John’s AUTHORITY to baptize come from heaven, or was it merely human? Answer me!” Mark 11:30
Marcos 11:30
The religious leaders were caught off guard. (Tomados por sorpresa)
They debated among themselves - of God or man - and this is how they responded.
“…We do not know.” And Jesus answered and said to them, “Neither will I tell you by what AUTHORITY I do these things.”” Mark 11:33
“…No sabemos. Marcos 11:33
In them challenging Jesus’s authority, He reminded them of THEIR pride, corruption, AND lack of authority.
Something people had noticed at the beginning of Jesus’s ministry…
“…for He taught them as one having AUTHORITY, and not as the scribes.” Matthew 7:29
Mateo 7:29
As religious leaders, they should’ve known the prophet Isaiah.
“The voice of one crying in the wilderness: “Prepare the way of the Lord; Make straight in the desert a highway for our God.” Isaiah 40:3
The corrupt religious system did not know.
There answer disqualified them from a Jesus Response.
Because if they weren’t willing to recognize John’s Authority, for sure, they were not going to recognize Jesus’s Authority.
[APPLICATION]
You have authority?
And more than likely your authority has been challenged.
Maybe your parenting skills have been questioned — that’s so frustrating.
Maybe your managerial skills have been demeaned — that can bring some anxiety.
Maybe your ministry calling / service has been debated — the tempter rises to bring doubt (his MO)
You must know that:
TRUE AUTHORITY ONLY COMES IN KNOWING GOD
LA VERDADERA AUTORIDAD SOLO PROVIENE EN CONOCER A DIOS
WISE AUTHORITY IS BASED ON THE WORD OF GOD
LA AUTORIDAD SABIA SE BASA EN LA PALABRA DE DIOS
ANOINTED AUTHORITY BLESSES ALL YOUR AREAS OF INFLUENCE
LA AUTORIDAD UNGIDA BENDICE TODAS TUS ÁREAS DE INFLUENCIA
Jesús has True Authority / all Authority.
His Authority is in you to do better / to succeed.
True Authority in you will allow you to enter triumphantly into any life situation.
[CONCLUSION]
I AM EMPOWERED TO RISE UP AND ENTER TRIUMPHANTLY AGAINST ANYTHING THAT CHALLENGES MY AUTHORITY
ESTOY EMPODERADO PARA LEVANTARME Y ENTRAR TRIUNFANTEMENTE CONTRA CUALQUIER COSA QUE DESAFÍE MI

- 40 days tempted by Lucifer (Tempter)
- 40 days no food.
“Jesús volvió EN EL PODER del Espíritu a Galilea...” Lucas 4:14
- Jesus experienced an amazing Outpouring.
- He confirmed it sometime later…
Lucas 4:18
- How important is Outpouring in our lives?
- The urgency & necessity of an “outpouring experience” is read in the words of Jesus 40 days after His resurrection — 3 1/2 years later…
Hechos 1:4-5
- What the Father promised, & Jesus commanded, was Holy Spirit Outpouring filling the room on the Day of Pentecost.
- Jesus knew the Outpouring Experience — it is necessary for us to be able to…

Acts 9:31-43
31 Then the churches throughout all Judea, Galilee, and Samaria had peace and were edified. And walking in the fear of the Lord and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, they were multiplied.
32 Meanwhile, Peter traveled from place to place, and he came down to visit the believers in the town of Lydda.
33 There he met a man named Aeneas, who had been paralyzed and bedridden for eight years. 34 Peter said to him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you! Get up and make your bed!” And he arose immediately. 35 Then the whole population of Lydda and Sharon saw Aeneas walking around, and they turned to the Lord.
Matt 8:16 When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, 17 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: “He Himself took our infirmities And bore our sicknesses.”
1Peter 2: 24 who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.

ACTS 9
36 There was a believer in Joppa named Tabitha (which in Greek is Dorcas). She was always doing kind things for others and helping the poor. 37 About this time she became ill and died. Her body was washed for burial and laid in an upstairs room. En esos días, se enfermó y murió. Lavaron el cuerpo para el entierro y lo pusieron en un cuarto de la planta alta; 38 But the believers had heard that Peter was nearby at Lydda, so they sent two men to beg him, “Please come as soon as possible!” So Peter returned with them; and as soon as he arrived, they took him to the upstairs room. The room was filled with widows who were weeping and showing him the coats and other clothes Dorcas had made for them. 40 But Peter asked them all to leave the room; then he knelt and prayed. Turning to the body he said, “Get up, Tabitha.” And she opened her eyes! When she saw Peter, she sat up! 41 He gave her his hand and helped her up. Then he called in the widows and all the believers, and he presented her to them alive. 42 The news spread through the whole town, and many believed in the Lord. Las noticias corrieron por toda la ciudad y muchos creyeron en el Señor; 43 And Peter stayed a long time in Joppa, living with Simon, a tanner of hides. y Pedro se quedó mucho tiempo en Jope, viviendo con Simón, un curtidor de pieles.
