iPRAY a Prayer of Repentance
yoORO una Oración de Arrepentimiento

Have you ever been Real with God?
To get Real with God, we must get real with our sins.
When was the last time you talked to God with a prayer of repentance?
When we repent, we change our minds, our purposes, and our goals.

Jonah 2:1 “Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from inside the fish.”
He admitted and recognized, “I am in trouble.”
2 He said: I cried out to the Lord in my great trouble, and he answered me.
I called to you from the land of the dead, and Lord, you heard me!
4a Then I said, ‘O Lord, you have driven me from your presence. Sin separates us from God’s presence.
He didn’t stop believing. 4b Yet I will look once more toward your holy Temple.’
7 As my life was slipping away, remembered the Lord. And my earnest prayer went out to you.
9 I will offer sacrifices to you with songs of praise, and I will fulfill all my vows. For my salvation comes from the Lord alone. 10 Then the Lord ordered the fish to spit Jonah out onto the beach.

Repentance is the act of seeking forgiveness from God because we know that we have sinned against Him.
Repentance in the original Greek is to change one's mind or purpose, in Hebrew is to turn back, and return.

When we repent: / Cuando nos arrepentimos:
  • We change our minds, our purposes, and our goals.
  • Cambiamos de opinión, de propósitos y de metas.
  • We renounce our will and accept the will of God.
  • We return to the Lord by restoring our faith in Him and turning away from our disobedience.

Repentance should be a way of life.
When we encounter Jesus, we recognize how sinful our words, actions, or way of life have been, and when there is sincere remorse over them, we are motivated to seek forgiveness from God through prayer.

When we accept Christ as Lord and Savior, we pray our first Prayer of Repentance.
Romans 10:8-12
To get Real with God we must get real with our sins and starts with seeking God’s forgiveness for stopping our full dependence on Him and choosing to pursue our desires and walk through life in our own way and strength.

When we pray a prayer of repentance we need to know.
  • God is faithful to forgive. 1 John 1:9 /
  • Dios es fiel para perdonar. 1 Juan 1:9
  • Sorrow will produce genuine repentance. 2 Corinthians 7:10 (8-11)
  • La tristeza producirá un arrepentimiento genuino. 2 Corintios 7:10
  • You don’t know all the sins lurking in your heart. Ps 19:12-14
Sal 19:12-14
  • Repent for any distance you have created between you and God. (Draw me, Lord) James 4:8
Santiago 4:8
  • The change in your mind must be followed by a change in the way you live your life, your words, and your actions. Luke 3:8 (9-14) (bear fruits worthy of repentance) (da frutos dignos de arrepentimiento)
Lucas 3:8
  • Remember His promise. 2 Chronicles 7:14 “God help me to be humble and recognize my sin.”
  • Recuerda su promesa. 2 Crónicas 7:14

Application
  • In your relationships if you have asked for forgiveness.
  • Have you truly repented and had a change of mind and purpose?
  • If you need to be right with God. Pray a Prayer of Repentance. He is a forgiving faithful God.
  • If you find yourself away from God. Pray a Prayer of Repentance and draw closer to Him.
  • Show God, the people around you, and yourself that you have had a change of mind.
Conclusion
Psalm 51:17
God will never reject a broken and repentant heart.
Dios nunca rechazará un corazón quebrantado y arrepentido.

[INTRODUCTION]
  • A very sincere way of ending a conversation is by giving a word of Blessing.
  • “God bless you”, “Love ya”, or a “Holy kiss”
  • If time & place allow, maybe an extended expression of blessing.
  • We live in a time of “short and to the point”.
  • Not Jesus — He ended this talk with a 3 minute prayer of blessing known as “His Last Prayer”.

- Mateo‬ ‭26‬:‭36‬, ‭42‬, ‭44‬ ‭

“Jesus, lifting His hands to heaven, blessed them.” - Luke‬ ‭24‬:‭50‬
“Jesús, levantando Sus manos al cielo, Los bendijo.” - Lucas‬ ‭24‬:‭50‬ ‭
  • I’m sure you can recall other prayers He made.
  • Jesus always prayed - what an example to follow.

PRAY WITH PURPOSE
ORAR CON PROPÓSITO
  • We must pray with intended results.
“A prayer offered in faith will heal the sick, and the Lord will make you well. And if you have committed any sins, you will be forgiven.” - James‬ ‭5‬:‭15‬ ‭
- Santiago‬ ‭5‬:‭15‬ ‭
  • Last Prayer Jesus made had important purpose:

PRAY FOR YOURSELF

ORA POR TI MISMO
“Now, Father, bring Me into the glory We shared before the world began.” - John‬ ‭17‬:‭5‬ ‭
- Juan‬ ‭17‬:‭5‬ ‭

PRAY FOR THOSE NEAR TO YOU

- Juan‬ ‭17‬:‭20‬ ‭
  • We must pray, believing that what God has promised He will fulfill.
  • For you and I; Our loved ones; & Future believers.
  • We must Pray with Purpose.

[APPLICATION]
  • John 17 - Last recorded prayer of Jesus on earth.
  • But it’s not His FINAL PRAYER.

- Romanos‬ ‭8‬:‭34‬
“Jesus is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through Him. He lives forever to intercede with God on their behalf.” - Hebrews‬ ‭7‬:‭25‬ ‭
- Hebreos‬ ‭7‬:‭25‬ ‭
  • From 2K years ago on earth, and till today in heaven, Jesus is committed to praying for you.
  • What an example to follow.
  • You cannot give up on prayer.
  • Your last prayer is not your final prayer.

MY LAST PRAYER IS NOT MY FINAL PRAYER
MI ULTIMA ORACIÓN NO ES MI ORACIÓN FINAL
